Goal-Based Assessment/h1>

Every rupee attached to a named purpose, costed at what it will actually take in the year you need it — not what it costs today.

The service

A goal without a number is only a wish

“I want to invest for my daughter's education” is not a plan. “I need ₹42 lakh in 2038, which needs ₹11,400 a month at an assumed 11%” is a plan. The second version can be measured, reviewed and corrected. The first cannot.

We take each goal you name, inflate it to the year it falls due, and work backwards to a required monthly contribution. That number then drives the SIP, and the review checks it every year against reality.

  • Each goal costed at future value, after inflation
  • Required monthly contribution derived, not guessed
  • Existing investments counted towards goals before adding new ones
  • Priority set when goals compete for the same cash flow
  • Annual review to check whether the number still holds

How it runs

What actually happens, step by step

1

List the goals

Everything gets written down — education, house, car, wedding, retirement, a parent's medical buffer. Vague goals get made specific.

2

Put a year on each

The year matters more than the amount, because it decides which asset category is even permissible. A three-year goal cannot sit in a small cap fund.

3

Inflate the cost

Today's cost is grown at a realistic inflation rate for that specific goal — education inflation is not the same as general inflation.

4

Count what you already have

Existing funds, EPF, PPF and other assets are allocated to goals first. Often the gap is smaller than feared.

5

Derive the contribution

The remaining gap becomes a required monthly SIP at a conservative assumed return, mapped to a category the horizon allows.

6

Review annually

Incomes change, goals move, markets do their own thing. The annual review adjusts the contribution rather than abandoning the plan.

Common questions

Questions we get asked most

Deliberately conservative ones. Assuming a high return makes the required contribution look small and sets you up to fall short. We would rather over-fund a goal and finish early.

Then something has to give, and it is better to know now: extend the horizon, reduce the goal, prioritise between goals, or start smaller with a step-up. Pretending the number works is the one option we will not offer.

No. We are a mutual fund distributor and do not charge investors any fee. This planning work is incidental to the distribution service and is covered by the trail commission the AMC pays us.

No, and the distinction matters. A SEBI Registered Investment Advisor provides advice for a fee under a separate regulation. We are an AMFI registered Mutual Fund & SIF distributor, and our goal-mapping work supports the distribution of mutual fund schemes.

Six or seven active goals is usually the practical limit before the plan becomes unmanageable. Beyond that, goals get grouped and prioritised.
